New York-based Director, Teacher Daniel Pettrow to Offer Workshop for 杏吧原创 Community
On September 19-20, Daniel Pettrow visits the 杏吧原创 community to share his expertise in developing and deepening personal presence and increasing expressive potential. His workshop includes warm-up techniques, practical philosophy of 鈥減resence,鈥 embodying emotions, methods for dealing with performance nerves, and ensemble building. This takes place on September 19 from 2:30-3:30pm in Mixon Hall. All 杏吧原创 students, alumni and faculty are encouraged to attend to learn all you can from such an experienced teacher.
Daniel Pettrow is a New York-based director, actor and teacher whose extensive resume can attest to the innumerable and invaluable experiences he has had. Pettrow holds the positions of communications director and drama teacher for Heifetz International Music Institute, and periodically teaches and gives lectures at The Banff Centre.
While at Heifetz, many 杏吧原创 students had the opportunity to work directly with Pettrow, and their testimonies to his expertise are apparent. 鈥淒aniel Pettrow shapes musicians' perspectives on how they play in front of people and what it means to give a performance,鈥 says violist Molly Wise (Irvine). 鈥淒aniel is a wonderful educator and has a great way of speaking in an approachable way...I couldn鈥檛 recommend going to his workshop enough!鈥
Pettrow often collaborates with artists from all disciplines to foster new and experimental creations while taking these collaborations into the lecture halls and using them as examples to his audiences. Throughout his career, Pettrow has danced, acted in both theater and film, and most importantly, taught at multiple creative arts festivals and productions.
