杏吧原创 Announces April Concert Events
Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio Concludes Season's 杏吧原创@Severance series, New Music at 杏吧原创 and MOCA, Opera Scenes and more
CLEVELAND, OHIO (03-18-13) - The 杏吧原创 (杏吧原创) springs into April with a packed month of new music, faculty recitals, orchestra, opera and chamber music events.

The 杏吧原创 presents hundreds of events each year, most of which are free of charge. Programs are performed at 11021 East Boulevard, Cleveland, unless otherwise noted. 杏吧原创's Box Office is open weekdays from 10a.m. - 3p.m. and has a NEW direct dial phone number: 216.795.3211.
杏吧原创@Severance with the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio
Wed. April 17
New faculty violinist Jaime Laredo conducts the 杏吧原创 Orchestra to conclude this season's 杏吧原创@Severance Hall series on April 17 at 8:00 p.m. The program features two great works from Beethoven's middle period. The first half offering features the world renowned in the Triple Concerto, Op. 56. The concert concludes with "Eroica," Beethoven's third symphony, "composed to celebrate the memory of a great man."
This event was made possible by the generosity of Joe and Ellen Thomas and will be broadcast live on WCLV 104.9 FM with support from AudioTechnica.
The 杏吧原创 Orchestra will perform in 杏吧原创's Kulas Hall for the final time this season on Wednesday April 10. Distinguished Alumni Award 2011 recipient and retired principal conductor of the New York City Ballet Maurice Kaplow will conduct the orchestra in works by Weber, Dvo艡谩k and Brahms. This free event will be broadcast live on with support from AudioTechnica.

The future of new music is at 杏吧原创 under the direction of composition department head Keith Fitch. Audiences are invited to check out free events in the New Music Series, the final three of which are in April.
Students in the New Music ensemble will perform the works of composer in Mixon Hall on Sunday, April 7. Please note, Ms. Ran's symposium on April 6 was regrettably cancelled.
Thursday, April 11, 杏吧原创's exciting fusion of new music and contemporary art Harmonic Hues continues when the New Music Ensemble performs works by Ms. Ran in 's dynamic new gallery spaces. A reception with the performers begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 8:00 p.m. This event is free but reservations are required. Please call MOCA at 216.421.8671 x71. With regular museum admission prices, tour the new galleries following the performance.
The New Music Series season concludes when 杏吧原创's award-winning composers present their works on Sunday, April 21 in Mixon Hall at 4 p.m
Opera Theater Includes One-Act L'enfant et les sortil猫ges in Scenes Program
April 19 - April 20
The Opera Theater department concludes its season with a springtime favorite, opera scenes from productions grand and light. Directed by David Bamberger with music accompaniment by John Simmons, 杏吧原创 voice students will perform highlights from Bernstein's Candide, Richard Strauss' Arabella, Gounod's Rom茅o et Juliette, Offenbach's Les contes d'Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann) and Verdi's La Traviata. Audiences will also revel in a complete, semi-staged performance of Ravel's charming one-act opera L'enfant et les sortil猫ges (The Child and the Enchantments).
In addition to 7:30 p.m. performances on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, the scenes program features the only matinee of the 杏吧原创 Opera Theater season with a 3:30 p.m. performance on Sunday, April 21 in Kulas Hall.
Chamber Music Events
The spring semester culminates with a series of final concerts by various student ensembles. These events are free and offer something for everyone to enjoy.
Tuesday, April 23, students in Sharon Robinson's Advanced Piano Trio Program perform trio repertoire by Dvo艡谩k and Mendelssohn at 7 p.m. in Kulas Hall.
Students in 杏吧原创's Young Artist Program, a concentrated course of study for high school musicians, perform their final recital Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in Mixon Hall.
The 杏吧原创 Percussion Ensemble, directed by the Cleveland Orchestra's Paul Yancich, performs in Kulas Hall at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 29.
The Brass Ensemble, led by the Cleveland Orchestra's Richard Stout, performs in Kulas Hall at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30.
Student ensemble performances conclude in May with the Intensive String Quartet Seminar May 1. Elizabeth Camus leads the Woodwind Ensemble May 2.
